Illegitimate dwellers in Society or rightful citizen “Women”

We girls would agree that we dread traveling in public transports like buses, visit public places without any company or just quietly wait for a friend in a lane. For most of the girls this is a fear we have been living with since our growing years.

Yes, we don’t feel safe the moment we leave our house we don’t want to be on a vacant lane, we can’t stand on road as the passing cars or bikes halt with an expression and yearning of a social or sexual encounter, We are afraid to travel in male’s compartment even though there might be less mass compared to ladies compartment as there is a chance of molestation. We are scared of travelling late night as people passing by think that she is broad minded look she is traveling so night so why not take a chance.

We suffer and have been suffering since ages in every public place as if we are not rightfully entitled to use it the same way as our opposite gender. The situation is even worse for girls below middle class they loose a chance of higher education, lucrative career mainly so because of the parents fright of letting them travelling in public places via public modes risking damage to their honor.

Why female is expected to remain careful, behave nicely as they might attract unwanted attention. Why can’t they be allowed a secure place in this society? Filthy messages at public places, shrewd comments while being out, raised eyebrows while hanging out with your male friends the list goes on and on. A male is allowed to just “hang out” while a female should always have a reason for that.

She is expected to be dressed appropriately or else should be ready for undue attention and comments. The harassment and insult continues everywhere. Very often a jolly and friendly girl is termed as an “easy catch” from her colleagues or batch mates.

These incidences cause equal damage as that of physical or sexual molestation. It is pity that after so many years of evolution of mankind one sex is still treated partially and even mistreated on many occasions. We beg your pardon dear brothers we need a life just as free as you after all I wasn’t designed to bear all the pain.

  1. Very well agree on this with you. I really hope our society will change as time passes by.
